The Imperial Guard is restored on 1 May 1854, two years after the proclamation of the Second Empire. Two Grenadier regiments of 3 battalions, each of 8 companies, are created. On 17 February 1855, a fourth battalion is added, however, companies are reduced to 6 per battalion. The Crimean expedition brings out the need to create a third regiment by Imperial decree of 20 December 1855.About the AuthorSince the seventies, André Jouineau has dedicated himself to studies in history and uniforms.
